Secutech is back: physical fair opens for the first time since pandemic pause

27 Apr 2022

Taipei is once again taking its place as the focal point of Asia’s security industry this week, as buyers turn their attention towards the 23rd edition of Secutech to discover what’s new and next in security and public safety. Taiwan is regarded by global buyers as one of the world’s leading producers of security hardware and software, and this potential has attracted 220 exhibitors to this year’s event, which takes place from 27 – 29 April in Hall 2 of the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Centre. Alongside the physical fair, an additional 70 exhibitors are taking part digitally via the ‘Secutech Hybrid’ platform, helping exhibitors and buyers connect seamlessly from anywhere in the world until 19 May.

The physical fair is opening during a period of intense change in the security industry. Ms Regina Tsai, General Manager, Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd – Taiwan Branch, explains: “We can certainly see a strong spirit of innovation this year in response to changing security priorities amid the pandemic. East Asia, and Taiwan in particular has always been a pacesetter in terms of security innovation and this is reflected across the show floor with more thermal imaging, video analytics and low touch access control solutions. Secutech is first and foremost a place where innovations can be explored and where high-level technical discussions can be held. It is these strengths that will create the right conditions for business to thrive this week.”

Video analytics suppliers add to product diversity

The wide range of zones and pavilions at Secutech is one of the features most appreciated by buyers at the fairground. In response to the growing role that video analytics and artificial intelligence has played in surveillance since the pandemic, a new AI Video Analytics Pavilion is making its debut this year.

The pavilion is the largest of its kind in Taiwan, featuring exhibitors such as Canon Marketing Taiwan, Bosch, NetBridge Genetec, aira, VIVOTEK, LILIN, 3S Systems, TDV and Panasonic. With video analytics becoming more wide spread, these exhibitors are showcasing hardware and software for a variety of security applications, including disaster prevention, manufacturing, transportation, healthcare and the commercial sector.

Apart from the pavilion highlights, the presence of big name manufacturers and OEMs is a key strength of this year’s fair. Many industry leading manufacturers of surveillance cameras and access control systems will be represented at the Security & AIoT Zone, including Deeplet, Askey, WAFERLOCK, Network Optix, FUHO Technology, Hunt, RTStream and Hi Sharp.

Some other key features to look out for include:

SMABuilding – smart home and building technology with three key focuses: IoT and smart home technology, building automation and HVAC. The smart lock pavilion will feature the latest solutions for commercial properties, residential buildings and industrial premises.

Mobility – Asia’s leading business platform for intelligent transportation solutions, covering railway, logistics and fleet management, including participation from the Taiwan Railway Bureau.

Fire & Safety – covering industrial safety, disaster prevention and rescue, including participation from the Taiwan fire department.

AI & IoT topics headline the Secutech fringe programme

Secuech’s fringe programme offers attendees both a global and Asian perspective on the latest security issues through panel discussions, seminars and presentations. A repeating theme across several of this year’s seminars is the application of artificial intelligence and IoT technology in home security.

Day three of the fringe programme sees a seminar hosted by the Taiwan Industry Association of Intelligent Security and Safety discuss the role of AIoT in access control systems. Other topic highlights include smart security, the next generation of building and home security, smart rail, transportation, smart logistics, industrial safety, fire safety and disaster management.

The 23rd edition of Secutech will take place from 27 – 29 April 2022 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. Secutech is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd - Taiwan Branch and is part of a global network of Safety Security and Fire trade fairs. For more details, please visit www.secutech.com.
