Leading safety and security brands prepare to unveil latest technologies at 21st edition of Secutech Taipei

Fringe events and intelligent solution pavilions highlight opportunities for cross-sector collaboration

Secutech 2018 opens this week as demand for advanced products and solutions in the safety and security sectors continues to grow. Renowned as an influential driving force behind the fast-changing security market, the upcoming three-day show will take place at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center from 25 – 27 April, and will welcome 427 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions.

As the show opens its doors for the 2018 edition, buyers from around the world will have the opportunity to source the latest innovations in safety and security related software and technology from leading global brands, including Hikvision, LILIN, Dahua, Hi Sharp, Seagate, Honeywell, NEXCOM, Network Optix, iCatch, Klacci, and many more. Artificial intelligence, IoT, intelligent video analytics and smart identity technologies that enable intelligent safety and security solutions are expected to be in high demand this year, as the market continues its trend towards intelligent and customised security solutions. System integrators, manufacturers, distributors, security service providers, exporters and numerous other categories of buyers are expected to be in attendance.

Seven ‘intelligent solution pavilions’ have been designated as focal points at the show, for the key vertical markets of smart factory, smart retail, intelligent transportation, smart street lighting, smart living, software innovation, and open video. These pavilions will allow buyers to easily source products and solutions across vertical markets and explore opportunities for cross-sector collaboration.

Among other benefits, the comprehensive array of fringe events set to be held during the show will provide attendees deep insights into the key challenges and transformations taking place in the safety and security industry. The Security + AI forum, for example, will focus on how artificial intelligence is being increasingly adopted to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of video analytics and facial recognition in video surveillance systems. Leading companies including NVIDIA, Kneron, Hikvision, Qognify, Umbo CV, VIVOTEK, Cyberon, SkyREC, LILIN, DT42, AMTK and Viscovery will lead discussions on topics such as ‘Smart City: A Public Security AI Innovation’, ‘A.I. analytics for retail stores’ and ‘How to transfer AI from dream to real project?’ The forum will also cover the opportunities available for applying AI and deep learning technology across a variety of vertical markets.     

Meanwhile, as IoT technologies and government policies continue to drive strong growth in intelligent transport systems and the connected car market, Secutech 2018 will include the launch of ‘Mobility Asia’ to showcase the latest ITS related products and solutions. A highlight of this platform will be the Mobility Asia Seminar which will cover ITS trends and technologies in the Asia Pacific Region. Just some of the topics to be discussed will be future trends in railway transportation, wireless communication solutions, the future of autonomous cars and ADAS solutions. The seminar will also consist of a panel discussion to facilitate dialogue between participants including the MTR Corporation, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand and the Taipei City Government Department of Rapid Transit Systems.

In the area of smart home and smart living, SMAhome will host a number of events to engage attendees. Z-Wave Academy Asia 2018, for example will include a conference dealing with topics such as: ‘The Critical 4 Steps of Smart home Implementation Plus’, ‘Market Opportunities in Europe’, and ‘Enhancing User Experience through Eco-system connectivity’. Speakers will represent some of the leading companies from the smart home sector: Z-Wave Alliance, Ezlo, Axalent, and Sigma Designs.

Continuing the theme of smart home, the Smart Living Solution Centre will focus on four key areas where smart living technology can be effectively applied. These are: elderly home care, smart office, smart residential communities, and smart hotels & holiday rentals. Products here are designed to facilitate a smart living lifestyle and will include voice command technology assisted by Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant. Wireless transmission, AI, deep learning, facial recognition, access control, software platforms, and whole-home control and integration are among the other technologies that will be featured. Seven providers of these technologies will be present at the Smart Living Solution Centre to bring visitors their latest products and solutions: Full, Tashi, Savant, Opro9, Bpoint, Ardomus and Silicon Labs.

Recognising the year’s best smart home and smart living products from these and other leading companies, the SMAhome awards will also return to Secutech 2018 and comprise of the Top of Excellence Award, the Top of Innovation Award, and the Top of Popularity Award.
